Our highest needs as human beings is self-actualization. Becoming the person we know in our hearts we're meant to be. My newsletter is about achieving this. I'm by no means there, but I'm here to share my experiences with you in hopes that they may guide you on your own journey. My emphasis is on alternative methods of personal, mental, and spiritual development such as psychedelics, meditation, breathwork, etc. It's only through trial and experimentation that you'll be able to figure out what works for you!
Hey Reader,
Since I started posting content about psychedelics on Instagram and TikTok, I noticed something really interesting.
Now, if you don't follow me, I've mainly been posting clips from high profile people speaking about psychedelics.
Sometimes the posts are specific to a substance.
Sometimes they're tips on how to have a more positive experience.
But, the interesting thing I found is that the topic that seems to get the most engagement and views is related to...(drumroll please)
'Bad Trips'
Now, I've had a couple posts that talked about how to deal with bad trips.
In one of them, the great Terence McKenna gives 2 pieces of advice.
I can't really speak to the chanting...
But his point about cannabis caused a lot of discussion in the comments of that video.
There were people advocating for both sides of the argument.
Some said cannabis intensified the experience.
While others said it did help to alleviate the bad trip.
Personally, I've found that cannabis intensifies the experience.
In fact, smoking after taking LSD led to my most profound psychedelic experience to date (I'll leave that for another issue of the newsletter).
What I'm getting at here is that experience is your greatest teacher.
When it comes to psychedelics though, your OWN direct experience is what matters.
Psychedelics aren't like any other substance out there.
I've noticed this first hand after guiding many people.
Everyone reacts differently.
And that reaction can't be predicted with any level of accuracy.
So although you might here a piece of advice from someone super knowledgeable and experienced like Terence...
It doesn't mean that it'll work for you.
I hope this little lesson will serve you well :)
Until next time!
Riaz
